Using a smartphone, you can film, edit and upload your finished video all on one device – incredibly quick and very practical. If your video was shot on a DSLR, it’s just as straightforward to upload to YouTube from a laptop or desktop.
- First things first; sign up for a YouTube account.
- Next, click the upload button on the top right-hand corner.
- Try to keep your file size under 800MB. Unless you are uploading 20+ minute-long videos, your file shouldn’t be larger than this.
- Give your video a title and choose a thumbnail. These are the two main selling points of your video, so choose them wisely! See Click here for how to make the most of this.
- Complete the description, making sure it lists what you are doing, where you are going, plus links to more information. If people are interested in finding out more, give them easy access.
- Once you’ve uploaded your video to YouTube, copy the link to share to other social media platforms – or select the ‘share’ function on YouTube and it will do it for you, provided your other accounts are linked.
